Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Her mother was a military wife and her family had been relocated to Louisiana by the time Decker was nine. Decker was a winner in a talent show during which she sang her favorite song by Patsy's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. Decker lived in Georgia in the year she turned fifteen years old. She had been writing music regularly and visiting Nashville to look for discounts. In 1997, she'd reached the age of 17 when she was approached by a Big Yellow Dog Records rep heard her. He began to sell her songs as well as music to a variety of musicians and record companies. When Mercury Records president David Massey saw the demos of Decker, he sent them along to L.A. Reid head of the affiliated Island/Def Jam label group and Reid signed her to the terms of a recording contract. Jessie James released her debut album in August 2009. The album was a self-titled project. Jessie James was reasonably successful and also featured Wanted the single which climbed in the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker, who had considered herself to be a country artist in the past was shocked to discover that the album was not promoted or produced with a focus at a mass audience. The second album of Decker's was revealed with the title Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury put it on hold as three of her country songs failed. The album was later canceled.
